He went off the Lantus Oct 18th. Yesterday his bg was 119. He's slowly curving upward. Should I worry yet? Anything I can do meanwhile? He's also started to poop outside the box again. Should I increase the Miralax in his food? I have not altered his diet one smidgen. (Friskies - pate's only.) He's acting ok tho.

DH has been feeding him a lot lately ( I have had to be away at 'supper' time ) and forgets to add that teaspoon of water to his food.

His is not drinking like mad tho from his water bowl, so I think that's a good sign.

Thanks for reading.

Have you tested at different times? When was the 119 on relation to eating? If it was before eating, he might be able to bring himself down lower in another few hours after eating.

With both of my boys I test and watch the numbers. Usually they varied from test to test. Except for a few days after Beau got into some dinner rolls and needed an assist with insulin (.05u as needed) he has been in normal numbers ranging from about 75-145, but usually around 90, for 16 months. With Jeddie, who was OTJ for about 3 months, he held himself between about 85-100. When he lost that control it was a slow slide upwards. Then he hit 201 and I felt I had to give insulin.

Getting Joey checked by a vet for dental issues, etc. is a good idea.

Does hubby "forget" the Miralax too?

maybe the affect of both is resulting in ouchy poops

Hubby definitely doesn't add the Miralax. I'm just lucky to get him to feed the cat at the appointed hours.

Constipation can definitely cause increased BGs. Less water and forgotten Miralax may well be contributing to this. Going outside the box is a sign that he's having problems in that area.

Can you make up the food in advance? Put it in a bowl and add water and Miralax, and then DH can just put it out for him at supper?

Yes, I can do that. But, I just realized I won't be going out nights much any longer.

He used his box today, so I'm happy. I will pre-prep his meal if I have to start being late again.
