I need to get spot checks (and update his SS, but I left the meter at home) He was 292 this am. I increased him to .3u

OK - I was supposed to Leave at 10am yesterday. I got delayed first by my aunt calling the night before to say she as sick. At first she seemed to maybe need to go to the ER, but she has a care giver that can stay overnight who came and stayed over, she said my aunt seemed OK - as in not really weak or sickly. I called at 7am and my aunt felt better and said I should go ahead.

Then, my downstairs neighbor, who's cat I was watching over the weekend, called to say someone buzzed his cell phone from the front door intercom the night before and he thought they might be trying to find out of he was home to burgle the place - so I had to check this place (Why didn't he call me the night before?).

Then I had to set up the dog crate I put the cats in - it fills the whole back seat and I have two shelves in it to add "loft" space. And it started to pour, so I got soaked to the skin.

Finally, I could load the cats in and Beau would not cooperate. He is usually not happy about going in the carrier, but he actually hid and would not come out. Got them all downstairs (this is 5 cats, three trips downstairs from the 3rd floor). Was still damp, but no time to change. Got going and it was nearly 1pm.

15 mins later, Charlotte threw up - on Jeddie's tail. I exited Lake Shore Drive found a place to stop (in a not great neighborhood on Chicago's south side) and cleaned up as best I could. 20 mins after that, Beau threw up - on Jeddies back. So, I pulled off the road in a construction area (I was on toll road by then) and cleaned up again. Poor Jeddie (and Charlotte and Beau).

There was assorted fighting and hissing, and someone peed on the pad in the bottom of the crate. Beau sleeps in the litter box, so no one else can use it. not sure what to do about that.

Then it rained the last 100 miles - not hard, just enough to be bothersome. I took the alternate route, but Ariel still got car sick. I drove the last part at about 35 mph (speed limit was 55). Luckily, it was a county road and no one was behind me. Got here before 8pm (ET). Unloaded the car and fed the kitties. Beau was so mad he was going after the other cats and growling at me. He attacked my sweatshirt this morning when I put it on the bed for him to sleep on. Not sure what his problem is. Usually he is just happy to get out of the car and loves it up there enough to be his old self in a few minutes.

Now I am going to go buy yarn - or at least look at it.

I'm sorry no one enjoyed the trip!

But I sure did

Not even sure why I find your exploits on the trip funny. Maybe because it happened to someone else.....

Poor Beau. Maybe if you take him out first next time. Not sure what would have helped. More than likely they were all stressed because you were undoubtedly aggravated by all the rain and they just fed off your anxiety.

Maybe you can teach them all knitting, so they can calm down!!

We've had a lot of rain here lately. Every night the past 4 it has stormed. Ugh.

There are some things worse than listening to a yodeling cat. This post zapped my frustration . . . I realized how much worse it could be! I hope you are able to recoup for the return trip. . . and I dearly hope it is better. Maybe they will "smell" home getting closer and calm down.

Oh my what a nightmare! I don't know how you do it! It is too bad Jeddie is diabetic because I would be tempted to leave them all home with a petsitter!

Oh no, so you have to go out and buy another meter?

I hope they all settle down soon and that the return trip is better! I wonder what Beau's bg numbers were after being so ticked off. cat(2)_steam

Beau has settled down - he was sleeping with Jeddie today, so all is forgiven.

I meant I left the meter at the house so I could not go online and fill out his SS. He was 240 this am, so that is a little better.
