I really can't believe how great his numbers are getting recently. (Knock wood / anti jinx)
Today his amPS was 134 and tonight he was 100. I got a +7 of 56 and that should be about when he nadirs. His +8 was 69. He does not like the extra tests though cat(2)_steam
I can't even say for sure what is doing it. Yes, I have stuck with the same dose for a long time, but the great numbers have happened recently - following a food change to a "worse" (?) food - cheaper at least (Sophisticat). This food doesn't have the Menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity) in it like Friskies does. It was recently brought to my attention that this ingredient is not a good thing to feed our cats (by Pamela and Tigger). Sophisticat is all by-products though so I am searching for a better food to mix in with it. I can't afford 100% Wellness or Evo or raw. Anyway, I wonder about the coincidence of food change and better numbers.....
As a possibly related subject, my aunt's female cat is not doing well. She and her brother get FF Classic food and she has lost 1.5 lb over the past year, her coat looks dreadful and last Sunday she was hanging her head over the water dish. She had I-131 treatment for hyper-T 2 years ago. We took her to the vet on Monday. All the labs showed, basically, normal values. She was dehydrated and her kidney values were very slightly up probably from that. The vet felt "ropy" intestines so she probably has IBD. We are trying a food change to Wellness and Evo. But what I wonder is if the Purina foods have been so changed as to no longer be healthy. FF and Friskies are both Purina foods. They both have that MSBC stuff in them.
