My sugar kitty Jason the Argonaut has been OTJ now for 19 days :-D and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here (and to let the newbies know that there is hope)!

I've only posted a few times on FDMB, mostly in the Lantus group, but the resources on this board taught me how to home test, run curves, the proper kind of diet, what foods are low carb high protein, and a wealth of other information. The folks on the Lantus board answered my questions and helped me through a near hypo scare.

Jason was a 12 year-old shelter kitty who was scheduled to be put to sleep due to being diabetic, anemic, and having a systemic bacterial infection. I took him home to try to treat him because he grabbed my heart and just wouldn't let go. We just got his repeat blood work back today (he finished antibiotics a week and a half ago), and the infection and anemia are both gone! He is now a diet-controlled diabetic (he was only on Lantus for about a month) who is just as healthy as can be and loving life.

I will now be able to share years with this amazing cat (and I can finally think in terms of years, instead of weeks) and the FDMB and it's members helped make that possible. So thank you, thank you, thank you all!!!

I know the euphoria you are feeling. Mine is still otj too and I do believe I owe it all to this group too.

CONGRATS!!!! It is a wonderful feeling and hope the days keep passing and you continue to count the days OTJ!
