What does AMS, PMS + and - used here mean? It seems like users are reporting BG...and should i do the same?
Thank you...I did start recording his numbers two days ago.sueandsamwise said:Do start your spreadsheet, that's all some people look at. I look at spread sheets alot. Once you get it set up it's pretty easy to do. I see you have your cat's picture up, I still can't get my Sam's pic up there. Very frustrating and several people have tried to help. I'm just not savvy enough.
Do check your cat before each shot, it's very important especially if you've changed the food he's getting. My Sam got off the juice once but after a year had to go back on and I've not gotten him regulated yet. So, check before each shot and try to get a nadir too. Nadir=6 hours after the shot Good luck with your guy! :mrgreen:
Thanks! okay, here goes Gobbles numbers from yesterday: AMPS 248 (very first shot of 1 U Lantus given), PMPS 236 +12 ??? I think this is incorrect...help me out hereSqueaky and KT said:I know, the jargon we use is a bit confusing in the beginning but you'll catch on fast. Let me see if I can unconfuse you a bit.
AMPS = 'Morning' Pre-shot BG #
PMPS = 'Evening' Pre-shot BG #
'U's' = units given
'+' Numbers = amount of time since shot. Example - shot at 9am, a test at 1pm would be +4 in that cycle. We're worldwide so using actual times gets confusing really really fast. Doing it this way, we can immediately tell where the cat is in their current cycle.
'Beans' = Hoomans...![]()
"Condo' = daily 'Thread' on other forums
And YES YES YES you should start your spreadsheet. I remember the beginning thinking 'why do I want to go to that trouble, I don't have many numbers"....but I did it and am SO SO VERY THANKFUL that I did!!! It's not hard to keep up with, I actually write mine down on a white board that's above our testing spot then, as I have a minute, post it on his spreadsheet.
WELCOME and BIG HUGS!!!! I'm thrilled that you found us!
TheBowHuntress said:sueandsamwis--what juice? also, can he have skim milk???
No need to worry about the juice comment...I am an extreme newbie so asking many questions! He loves turkey and venison--I've been treating him with a little of thawed out uncooked venison and will switch to turkey later today...he has gotten real picky about eating...I give him like maybe 3 different kinds of wet food per day (6 carbs or less) plus the dry DM...sueandsamwise said:Sorry about the hair. I know mine was thinned the first month Sammie was on insulin. Sorry about the juice comment. But KT was right juice = insulin. Dairy always makes Sam barf so he never gets milk anyway. Turkey is a good treat for cats and they also have jerky and freeze dried treats they cat eat. Keep at it!![]()
Turkey is a good treat for cats
Thanks...those nasty liver, gizzard and heart got immediately thrown out when the turkey thawed...darn...!!!Squeaky and KT said:Turkey is a good treat for cats
That wonderful, tasty thanksgiving turkey that someone spent all that time cooking and tastes SO good is NOT, unfortunately, good for sugar kitties. They use a sugar solution to keep the turkey juicy. They don't do it with the giblets so the liver, gizzard and heart are GREAT!
BIG HUGS!
