Jade OTJ going on month 3/// possible UTI

Hi all....well Jade has been doing great wither random Bg testing. This morning I noticed her going in and out of the liter box a few times. She has constipation from time to time and assumed that was it. I rubbed her belly for a bit and the next time she went in the box, I lifted the lid and realized that she was straining to pee. I know that is serious. I took her into the Vet right away and they have to keep her for a couple hours for her bladder to fill enough to get a good sample. She had an infection mid May which is how they discovered her diabetes is the first place. Needless to say, I'm worried sick about her. She gets SO upset when I put her in her travel bag and then to have to leave her there breaks my heart.The good news is that she has gone from 17 lbs to 13 lbs just from eliminating dry food and switching to FF pate. Please keep her in your thoughts.....:(
 
Vines for Jade, if it is a UTI, it sounds like you caught it early. You are a very good momma bean. Try not to worry too much, you will have her home safe and sound soon and you can make it up to her. I know you will! LOL I always have to apologize like crazy to Idjit when he has to visit the vet, talk about a stink eye and cold shoulder! Keep us updated please.

Thank you!! I feel so guilty leaving her there. She clings to me (thats the only time she does) and then to have to leave her to get poked in the bladder with a needle :arghh:. The last time they just gave her an antibiotic shot that lasts 2 weeks. SOOOOOO hoping this is the same situation!!

Just called the Vet.. they said it takes a couple hours for her bladder to fill (it’s been 3 1/2) they say she’s “resting comfortably “ but they haven’t really had a chance to get a sample due to surgeries etc... I’m so mad. They’re basically pushing her aside. A cat with a UTI or bladder infection isn’t comfortable. I’ve had one. I know. I understand they’re busy, but she’s my girl and it really upsets me that she’s still there. Untreated. Undiagnosed. Happens every single time I take my cats in. To any vet and have to leave them.

She's beautiful! Looks so chillaxed now :) Glad she's home - hope the UTI resolves soon.
Luci had a UTI a few years back - had to leave her at the vet all day - she would NOT pee for them...they said, you might as well come and get her - we 'think' she has a UTI - so we'll give you some antibiotics - and you can take her home. She peed all over the carrier when she heard me talking - so they suctioned some of that up ... oh boy :blackeye: I guess you do what you have to do. I think she was nervous and just couldn't go - poor little girl held it until I got back there :rolleyes: sheesh - who knew I had so much influence????

I'm so glad you noticed the issue and took her in right away. I'm also very glad you went and subtly made them move their behinds, haha. Hopefully Jade will improve quickly on the antibiotic and keep giving you those great numbers! She's such a beautiful girl!

Thank you!! My guy thought I was going to go in and flip my lid ( I wanted to!) but they have my fur girl and I’m at their mercy. I was nice and said “ok, I’ll just stay and wait.” To that they said “oh... ya.. were testing her urine right now “ Right. I’m sure you were. But whatever, she’s diagnosed and in the path to recovery and home. I hope you all know that I check in on everyone daily. :bighug:
 
Good for you for going up to the vet!!! Got them on their feet quick huh! I am happy you caught it early and she is home. Shmee had to have a $700 blockage surgery many years ago before I know about dry food. :mad:

I'm so sorry to hear about Jade! I hope the antibiotic works quickly.
When i need to bring in a urine sample i follow Ravan to the litter box.When he starts to pee i slip a small dish under him & collect some urine. i keep a clean baby food jar near & transfer the urine into it.
If I can't get to the vet right away I put it into the fridge. Because he gets so stressed at the vet i can't leave him there. Maybe you could try to collect the urine a few times so if you need to do it in the future it won't be difficult?

Thanks...she wasn’t peeing. Just straining. Poor baby.
