Jack is craving seafood

Hello all. My kitty Jack has been on Fancy Feast wet food and occasionally Friskies pates (not as much because he seems to turn it down) for about 3 months now. Last week I tried him on freeze dried chicken as a treat and he loved it. But lately he is shunning his usual flavors of Fancy Feast and even the freeze dried chicken. He will eat his usual flavors if I sit there and encourage him. So the other day I offered him a can of the ocean whitefish tuna fancy feast and he devoured the entire thing. He really is craving the seafood flavors I think. How often can he eat them? Is it normal for cats to get tired of their food, and if so how can I entice him back to it?

You don't really want to feed seafood more than once or twice a week. That being said, if he's having appetite problems, sometimes you have to ignore the "rules" and just feed them what they're willing to eat. Keep trying to encourage him to eat other foods, maybe by mixing in some of the fishy flavors with it to start with. You can also try parmesan cheese or fortiflora as a topper or even the freeze-dried chicken treats to get him to eat his regular food. Both of those work really well with my cats when they become finicky.
