It's been quite awhile, hope someone remembers Lucky!

Exactly how long does a kitty need to go without insulin and what should his numbers be to be considered OTJ????

I know that is a lot of numbers but I wanted to show what's been happening since that last huge 400 he threw me. He was on such a small dose, which is a long way from the 2 units he was on awhile back. So looking at these numbers, would you consider your kitty OTJ or do you think I've got some more work to do? I'm afraid to feel excited!!! I remember a point where I was so down and driving myself crazy thinking this would NEVER happen!!! We are a military family, have a 9 yr old son, now a 2 yr old girl (was just a baby) and the time spent on Lucky was taking a toll. BTW, I'm pregnant again, due Feb 2nd and I'm still Lucky's only shot giver, so this couldn't have come at a better time, if it continues :-D

Especially this kind of news!
Technically, we usually say - two weeks with no insulin with numbers in the normal range (40-120), with most numbers in the double digits. To me, it looks like Lucky is "there", except for the couple of times you gave drops of insulin.

I think I'd just keep testing to make it official, but it looks to me like Lucky has an early Christmas gift in mind for you :-D
It would be official on the 16th.. ;-)

Hope your children and your Hubby are doing fantastic, and please thank him for what he does for all of us. And even though he's now in the army, tell him Semper Fi from me.

Lastly, congrats to both of you on the new addition. :smile: Feb 2nd is my Mom's birthday :smile:

After I kind of took a break from the board, I quit the SS and trying to test ketones and just took it one day at a time and went on instinct. Had some family stuff going on as well. Hubby is looking at medical retirement. He doesn't think he can physically take another deployment, which is coming up REAL soon before this baby gets here. He hasn't been too impressed with the Army, either...definitely will always be a Marine! Oh, and this is my 1st child not due in August ;) My first was Aug 5th, 2nd Aug 3rd, 3rd Aug 1st, and this one surprise baby decided to come in February close to her grandma's b-day :mrgreen:

But anyway! Lucky tested at 63 this morning, he got lots of rubs and praise!! Looking good for him. I'll keep testing him as normal and report back!
 
What lovely news all round! Congrats on the new baby and yes, the numbers look great!

I have read a lot about Fort Carson doing more to help vets who are struggling with continuing deployments. So hoping Hubby will get some support when he needs it. Sending good thoughts and wishes for the whole family and heartful thanks for his service.
