Hi~
I started my Skippy on a formula that I am reading from the book the "whole pet diet, eight weeks to great health for dogs and cats" by Andi Brown. I am not sure if it is coincedence that his BG has been up in the 300's pretty much all day today since giving him this formula.

It contains
Olive oil, cod liver, wheat germ, flaxseed, rosemary, and garlic

added a teaspoon to his meal.

I am not sure if it is coincedence or it just happened that his numbers are high....help please

Yes, wheat germ and flax seed are grains. A teaspoon may be enough to raise BGs if Skippy is sensitive to carbs. By the way, garlic can cause anemia in cats, so I wouldn't feed garlic.

Well there goes the formula that I read in the book.....i guess you can not believe everything you read. Thanks so much for the reply. This why his BG was off the rocks today! Thanks for reading my post!

I was searching for some food info and came across this - not that I feed it to my cats, but it made me wonder...how does garlic make a cat anemic? Just being curious like a cat! confused_cat

Onions and garlic are toxic to cats due to their contents of N-propyl disulphide. This substance has the power to cause anemia by annihilating the red blood cells.
