I had to take my civie in today for a suspected UTI and ear problems. I was so worried that the vet was going to give her convenia and made sure he knew I would be against it, that I didn't even think to ask if the ear drops were steroids. After doing some searching on here, I find out that indeed they are. They are to be given twice a day, 3-4 drops in each ear for 14 days. I don't want to try and fix this problem and cause another. I don't know whether to give them or not. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

You can always test your cat's bgs to be sure the meds don't cause any long lasting side effects.

You can also ask for non-steroidal ear meds to treat the problem - while there aren't a lot of choices, there are one or two I believe.

Whenever treatment on another condition requires steroids or another medication which raises glucose levels, you adjust the insulin dose around that.
