Is this dramatic remission possible?!

My 11 year old Kitty came to me with newly diagnosed diabetes and recent urinary + litterbox problems. In 2018 she was eating Hill's dry urinary food, which seems to have 55% carbohydrate. If I subtract the protein and fat content. Then she was put on mostly dry and a bit wet Royal Canin, which was not a ton better. She was 14.4 lb. And even 19 lbs months before that. One test of blood glucose showed 377 (probably Cat, Not Human, measurement).

Now she is 12.3 lb, eating carb-free chicken classic canned Fancy Feast and a bit of completely fresh chicken + bonito flakes and has rates in the 70s - 90s on my human meter. I took her off insulin (1 --> .5 --> .25 twice a day to 0 in 2 weeks) this morning and tested her at 2 and 4 hours after she ate. Look at the charts. It seems crazy.

Should I do a curve tomorrow as well, then do one every 3 days or so to see how she is doing? When would her highest level of glucose be, like two to three hours after she eats? Maybe I can just test it then. I would be so thrilled if she is in remission! Thank you so much for any advice.

Getting your kitty off the high carb food could very well have put her into remission.
Normally we would continue to reduce the insulin down to 0.1u and then one drop twice daily to support the pancreas a bit longer however, you've been pretty much in normal numbers for quite some time. We consider a cat to be in remission if they can maintain normal range numbers for a period of 14 consecutive days without any insulin.

I'd suggest you could consider today the 1st day of an OTJ trial. Here are the instructions. You'll have to scroll down a bit.
Fingers crossed. Please keep us posted. We love seeing kitties go into remission! :D

It looks like it could be remission it happens sometimes with just the food change, that's how important appropriate food is, take a look at the OTJ trial instructions, one of the good things is during the OYJ trial is if his numbers are normal you only test twice a day at the same time you usually do your preshot tests :)

Good luck!!
