a couple of neighbor's cats visiting daily and would like to give them a little something.

I am still active at the shelter but no cat yet. I swear I still see Joey's ghost in the house.

Freeze-dried meat. If you need a lot the freeze-dried meant get the dog treats and just break them up.

yep, second vote for freeze dried treats. i'm seeing a few brands now at PetSmart. I'm sure more brands will start to produce these so it's a good idea to check the ingredients to make sure it has nothing added in. ex. freeze dried turkey should have nothing BUT turkey listed in ingredients.

one thing I noticed when I first offered them to my cats...they seemed confused by them! I'm guessing bc they aren't "stinky" like other treats, but once they tried them they LOVED them!

Yep, freeze dried are the best choice. Purebites is what I use, 100% freeze dried chicken. My cats love it! It's a little expensive but I buy the dog baggies and then break up the chunks into smaller cat sizes. I emailed Purebites and they said the dog and cat product is identical except for the chunk size. The cat baggies have more chicken dust which is good to sprinkle on their wet food but I like the chunks better.

My cats go nuts for the Orijen freeze-dried treats for cats.

Wink will do tricks for a few snackies of those Halo Liv-a-little freeze dried chicken treats. I used to crumble those over his food to get him to eat more food. He was a dry food addict, and that helped during the transition to wet food.

Whole Life freeze dried chicken treats are also a hit with my gang.

Rotissiere chicken is always a hit. I'm literally mobbed whenever I buy that and try to have it for dinner. One time, I was bringing more groceries in from the car, and Wink chewed through the plastic grocery bag, through 2 layers of plastic wrap and had started to chow down on the chicken between the time it took for me to walk out the door, grab a couple more bags of groceries and get back inside. ohmygod_smile

They like a bit of cooked ground turkey now and then.
I've given them bits of raw chicken when I'm trimming it up for smaller portions to freeze.
Cooked beef bits are appreciated by my 3 kitties.

Basically, anything pure protein is a good, healthy food treat for our diabetic kitties and their civie (non-diabetic) buddies.

Treats don't have to be food. How about a good brushing, petting session, or even a play session?
