Is there a commercial low carb dry food?

My diabetic kitty is controlled through diet only right now (Thank God) and I have switched all 3 of my cats to wet Fancy Feast low carb food that was acceptable per Janet and Binky's list. To get them acclimated I sprinkled some dry diabetic food my vet gave me on top. When I ran out I tried the wet food only and my diabetic baby and another cat eat it just fine but the other will only eat if there is some dry food mixed in.

Is there a commercial low carb dry food I can find at my local grocery for this purpose?

Tucker is allowed a treat of grain free dry a couple of times a week. Evo is fine, but it hurts his belly, he's got IBD and pancreatitis, maybe the Evo is too rich for him. He does better on Wellness Core for his dry food treat. It's low carb, grain free like Evo.

When I put my diabetic cat Payne on canned food from dry (good Wysong) I had to put the
other 9 on also because Payne is VERY intolerant of carbs. (also IBD) Once you get the reasoning
behind wet, it makes sense and all the dry was gone! We spent a couple of hard weeks but have
finally got everyone on board. In fact, this week I have changed the wet to 0-5 carbs only,
trying to get her BG's down. (I will put up a spreadsheet for all to look at, once I figure it out!!)

We came across a product that helped A LOT!! It's a packaged, shredded chicken breast called Vitakitty,
only chicken with vits. added. I use the whole pieces for the dogs but found out they made the
shredded for cats. I would sprinkle on the canned food and I use as treats, especially for Payne.

Thanks all! I just don't want him to starve and I have tried all of the tricks I have found on this site and Dr. Lisa. Cat's are great but so stubborn sometimes. Does EVO stand for anything? If not do you usually find it in the grocery store?

You won't find a premium food like EVO at a grocery store. Specialty pet stores/boutiques sell premium brands. There is a store locator on the EVO web site: http://www.evopet.com/where-to-buy/ You can buy the brand online at various places such as PetFoodDirect.com and OnlyNaturalPet.com

Nature's Variety makes a grain-free dry: http://www.naturesvariety.com/Instinct/cat/all

If your cats like crunchies, you can try a low carb hard crunchy treat like these: http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/ ... 99310.aspx

I realize that this thread is just about supplementing (for taste) dry food mixed with canned food but in case other people are reading this and thinking that they can use low carb DRY food as the main diet, please remember that proper nutrition for all cats - including diabetics - involves more than just carbs. **Water* is crucial for urinary tract health so dry food should never be fed as a sole diet due to its water-depletion issues.

See the Urinary Tract Health link below for pictures of poor Opie who suffered tremendously due to Man's insistence on feeding cats a water-depleted diet.
