Hi,
I opened our bottle of insulin (Prozinc) on August 18th, it has been back and forth to a number of vets so not been constantly temperature regulated, and it's very cloudy (which I think this is normal).

Toby has been all over the place with his insulin needs and what was a too high dose is no longer too high and not bringing him down and his nadir is changing almost daily, so I am now wondering if the insulin is bad. These could be totally unrelated, but I thought I would see what experience was out there.

Thank you in advance!

It's probably fine. Insulin needs fluctuate and not all cats regulate easily. When you travel with it, keep it in an insulated bag like a lunch bag with an Icepack.

Date wise, it should be okay. It should have a milky appearance with nothing floating around in it. You roll it before each use to blend it, correct?

Insulin needs do change. So, it's hard to say if the insulin quality is a factor. Be careful about staying at a dose too long. 3 or 4 days at the same ProZinc dose is usually plenty of time to make a call on whether or not the dose needs to change. If the numbers remain too high, go ahead and bump the dose up a 1/4 unit. You may need to play around with feeding times if you get an occasional low number but all other numbers are too high.
