Is methyl b12 ok?

Hi, so I ordered some methyl b12 supplements for my diabetic kitty with neuropathy and I got a recommendation from a Facebook group to use the brand "Now methyl B-12 5000 mcg 90 veg capsules"
But today someone said not to use this one bc of the rice flour?

These are the ingredients:

Rice flour, microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose (cellulose capsule), stearic acid (vegetable source) and silicon dioxide.

A lot of the methylcobalamin supplements have rice flour. It should not be enough to cause a rise in BGs. A 5000 mcg capsule is a lot though. As with all things cats I would start at really low doses and go up from there. I would start with 500 mcg per day, split into two doses of 250 mcg. You can go up to 1000 mcg per day.

@Kathy and tiger gives B12 to Tiger for neuropathy. Maybe she would have a better idea about dosage and the brand she uses.

Don't cats usually get 3mg daily? So maybe if I split the pill into 2 or even 4 pieces if necessary.

You're right, I was dosing B12 for CKD kitties, but cats with neuropathy can benefit from a higher dose according to this: http://www.bigorangegoodness.com/#dosage

Dosage
Jasper, who weighed 14 lbs., received 3 milligrams of methylcobalamin daily. The tablets are "sublingual" (to be dissolved under the tongue), but as cats aren't likely to cooperate with that, they can be given like any other pill. If your cat weighs 10 lbs. or more, we'd suggest starting with a 3 milligram dose. Smaller cats can start with half of that, or 1.5 milligrams.

Micrograms vs. Milligrams
If dosage abbreviations drive you nuts, understand that mcg = micrograms and MG = milligrams. So, 1000 mcg is the same as 1 MG. Some bottles of methylcobalamin list the dose in micrograms rather than milligrams, and this confuses people.

If your cat's blood sugar is regulated (under 300 all the time), you should see results within 2 weeks or so. If you don't, increase the dose — some cats are on as much as 10 MG per day with no side effects whatsoever. It's important to remember that all cats are different — Jasper responded quickly, but some cats take longer and require more of the vitamin. Be patient, and don't give up!

Yes 3000 mcg's the usual dose. Zobaline which a lot of members give is 3000 MCG
It's expensive 33.90 for 60 tablets

A member here told me about another brand called Vitacost 5000 MCG capsules which is so much cheaper than the Zobaline brand

I have been giving Tyler the 5000 mcg for 3 years and no problem , I was told that they pee out what they don't need. Many members here use the 5000 mcg

It took about maybe 2 months and he was back to walking totally normal.
I saw an improvement every week though.
B-12 is a water soluble vitamin so any the body doesn't use is just peed out.

Did your cat start jumping again too? With the weak legs they can't really run or jump, so I wonder if this helps for that?
