Is Max bouncing?

Max went to the vet Wednesday. I took a copy of his spreadsheet and he stated he needed to be tightly regulated and the quicker we could get his numbers down the better chance of remission. He also was concerned because his urine was dilute and this is most likely the beginning stages of chronic renal insufficiency. He sent off for a urine culture and SDMA and will call me with results. He told me to keep him on the same dose (1.5 units) for a full week unless he becomes hypoglycemic. If you glance at last night's spreadsheet his numbers look great BUT....if you look in the comments....I was also up every two hours and had to give him some syrup because I thought he was going to drop too low too fast. I was wondering anyone's thoughts on the numbers and then this morning's whooping 478, or do you think the temptations, syrup and the turkey and gravy wet food caught up to him. thanks guys.

Everyone wants their cat to get tightly regulated:) but that somes with time- since bouncing is part of the process - and consistency with dosing and adjustments. I think the added pressure via the vet wasn't a helpful pep talk  You are doing working towards what they are saying already with SLGS guidelines....hold for a week and adjustment if needed.
I think you can steer numbers that are above 50- even 70 - without giving syrup anticipating drops
I'd say experiment with different foods and carb contents as well as feeding times so you can steer those numbers with his diet and not sugars.

We used to feed the Glycobalance ( 12-14% carb) with his shot when it looked like he was trending downwards to help him have carbs to burn when his insulin kicked in around +4.

SS says TR, but signature says SLGS- just want to make sure you are trying SLGS.
Taking the reduction to 1.25 might also give you more numbers that are above that threshold where you get uncomfortable and think he is too low - less worries for a bit..?
