Hello,

Alfred seems to be allergic to something, I'm still trying to figure out if it's his food or an environmental allergen.

In the mean time, while I'm investigating, is it ok to use hydrocortisone cream on his itchy spots or is there something else that would be better? I know hydrocortisone is a steroid and that's not good for diabetics, is the amount in the cream likely to cause a rise in bgs?

Any recommendations on other things to use for itchy areas on the skin to relieve the itch?

Thank you!

When there is another (aka 'comorbid') condition, you do what you have to to treat that and adjust the insulin around it.

Be sure the topical product is safe for cats - check with your vet.

Some 'itchy' cats have benefited from fish oil/krill oil supplements; probably because of their anti-inflammatory properties...?

Fish/krill oils seem to have other benefits as well.
Some folks think that - if giving fish oils - it's also important to give a little vitamin E too.
