Is it safe to alternate between FF flavors?

I have a newly-diagnosed kitty and I'm feeding him Fancy Feast Classics. He'll seem to just LOOOOVVVE a particular flavor, and as soon as I buy a half-case or so, he won't touch it anymore. As long as I stay within the FFC range, is it safe to change-up the flavors fairly frequently, or even offer two flavors at once?

Well with my herd I feed the Friskies instead of the Fancy Feast but I do vary the flavors, I feed about 5 different flavors in the week to keep things fresh for them. So I would assume that it is safe to do the same thing with the Fancy Feast. Plus one of my diabetics seems to be highly allergic to the dried egg in FF...so Friskies it is, I just try to stay right around the same carb percentage. roughly between 6-8%

A typical week around here is Mon-Turkey & Giblets, Tues-Poultry Platter, Weds- Country Style dinner, Thurs-Mixed Grill, Fri-Sea Captain's Choice, Sat-Turkey & Giblets, etc.

Mel, Maxwell, Musette, Autumn & The Fur Gang

I feed my cat two or three FF flavors in the same carb range for variety. It doesn't seem to matter which one, just the same carb %.

Why I did that- when I was feeding all different carbs her numbers all over the place as she is REALLY carb sensitive and this helped me to pinpoint the changes.

I did keep a running list of what food I fed her, but as she held onto the carbs for days that really didn't make much of a difference  . now I just usually list the two or three and % and don't change it until I get a new case- I usually buy two or three at a time.

Yes, as long as the carbs are safe :) Some cats will eat only one flavor and never get tired of it, but some like variety.

I don't feed FF, but I feed Special Kitty Select, which is basically Walmart's store brand equivalent of FF. The ingredients are nearly identical. I feed the chicken dinner, turkey and giblets, and duck delight pates. Occasionally I will buy him a seafood or beef one as a treat :D

Yes, as long as all the flavors are low carb (classic) that is perfectly fine.

Bandit actually has 8 different types of food that I rotate between--3 flavors of Merricks that he gets for 3/4 of his meals, and then 5 flavors of Fancy Feast that he gets for 1/4 of his meals. I keep the Fancy Feast in the mix strictly for variety--he loves it and I really don't want him to get sick of the Merricks since he does so well on it, so I try to head that off by changing things up every few meals. It's worked very well for me so far, so I'm not messing with the program.

Don't be afraid to go back and revisit flavors that they loved after a few weeks. My cat Gabby would stop eating a food, and if I gave it a break and reintroduced it after a few weeks she would eat it for a period of time again. Also, pay attention to the ingredients in the ones they refuse. Many cats get sick of liver after a while, and there are several FF flavors that have a very high liver content.

There are a few flavors of FF we rotate thru (Beef & Chicken, Chopped Grill, Beef & Liver). I generally stick with those because they're 2% or 3%. Every now and then I will give them Liver & Chicken, but its 4% so that's a special occasion.

Ruby is pretty carb sensitive. Even 5% has been known to give her a good spike. When she was still on insulin, I figured out (very slowly) that when she was dipping into the worrisome double digit area, I could boost her up with 5% and 7%, and for the most part, avoid having to go higher carb than that.

On Janet & Binky's list, the FF Turkey & Giblet is listed as 3% but as far as Ruby's body is concerned, its much higher than that. As much as she loves it, I learned to avoid it because it would cause a spike.
