And how do you decide?
It's amazing to me - thanks to the help of this forum - our 4 year old Puma has gone from looking sick with BG 410 on 7/3 to AMPS of 89 and PMPS of 94 today. Glossy coat again, bright eyes, playful. No insulin since the morning of 7/18 (yesterday) when he got 0.5 U of PZI 100.
The big change has been switching him (and our other 3 cats) from free feeding and dry food to wet food - FF classics. That and home BG monitoring with the help of this forum.
How often should we check? And is there a pre-meal BG number that would require insulin? On Saturday I'll have the chance to check a couple of numbers during the day to see what effect eating is having on his BG. When would you suggest I check? He doesn't like having his ear pricked, so I'd like to keep it minimal if I can.
Thank you again!
Jane
