Is it okay to give remission kitty insulin if his BG is 200?

One of my diabetic cats has been in remission with occasional high glucose for one month. His glucose was 200 tonight, and I have been giving him .25 to ,75 units when it has been above 160. Does anyone know if you are supposed to give insulin or just completely stop no matter what the occasional high BG is?

In the last month, he's averaged 125 at night on the AlphaTrak2 meter, so no lantus insulin. When he was above 160, I've given him from .4 to .7 units of lantus.
