So a couple of days ago maybe 3 phoebe turned to fast and whacked her head pretty good on the door frame. She stopped and shook her head a little, but was wanting to eat. No problem now 2 days later we see this. I washed it hoping it was just dried on food. But not sure. She eats and drinks out of porcelain. No plastic anywhere. Should I take to vet. just wait and see what happens? Scrub a little harder? Use some panic booster?! :) @Wendy&Neko :) hope it's not a tumor?

I wouldn't panic yet. My girls have gotten acne on their chin that turned into a a big pimple-cyst type thing. From the photo that looks like maybe it's a cyst-pimply thing that broke. When you washed it, did you see dried blood? If you get some dried blood you will kinda know it's that.
Is there bump or anything thing there?

I agree unless you feel a swelling or it feels hot (like an abscess) I would give it a few days. I wouldn't continue to "scrub" it, it may just irritate it.

BTW, Phoebe has BEAUTIFUL eyes:)

Looks like kitty acne. Best not to scrub it. It will usually clear up on its own, or just stay the way it is now. Only require a vetty visit if it breaks open and starts to weep or ooze. :cat:

ETA: Squallie gets it pretty frequently, never been a problem. :)

Kitty acne - Snow seems to always have one. Mine never eat from plastic, Snow even eats off a glass saucer...and still gets them. I just clean them, dab a bit of vaseline if not red/neo if I didn't see it in time and it gets irritated.

There is a lump there. But it looks better now that I cleaned. I know there was food stuck to whatever is was.
If food was stuck there, I betcha its inflamed acne. Warm compresses are a good idea. It will likely go down or "come out" just like when we get a pimple or cyst.
BTW, my girls get occasional acne and they have never ate out of bowl or plastic. They eat off ceramic plates. I think they get food on their chin and if they don't get it cleaned off well it will cause it.
But do keep an eye on it because my previous kitty, Hope, got a bad cyst/bump on her lip and the vet cultured it and it was that nasty bacteria, I forget the name, the one that causes most serious/fatal infections in hospitals. Anyway she did have to go on antibiotics and the vet said it was a very good thing I brought her in cause it really could of gotten out of hand. I am not tell you this to scare you, what happened with her was a really weird and rare thing the vet said, but things do happen.
And after that happened, I was so neurotic, I washed her mouth and chin off after meals. Just like you would a small child, with a baby washcloth. She was such a sweetheart, she learned to expect it and would actually stick her face out to be cleaned like a kitten waiting for mama to clean her after eating.

Thank you for your story of Hope. We all can learn. :)

It's super-happy-fun when I learn new things than can make my cat sick. I've never heard of kitty acne probably because I've never had to deal with it. Anyone see the news yesterday about the woman who calved a 14 pounder? The doctor said the mother was lucky to have not developed Gestational diabetes. Huh? And why am I almost 60 and I still get zits?
@katiesmom You are the best! So you don't do what my mom did, spit in a hanky to wipe my face. Yech! Didn't Dad just blow his nose in there? Or better yet for girls in a huge parking lot at the beach, "I'll hold up this tiny towel and you change into your swimsuit behind it. No one will see". Thanks Mom!

Ooops! What I meant to say was "Gave birth to a wonderful, beautiful child". And this is the tree we planted with your placenta! Mom, I'm eating!
