Methos just tried to eat one. I got it all out of his mouth (I hope) but he was chewing on it and separated it into two halves.

sorry i tried to look it up but didnt find much, just articles that may be written by ai. I didn't see praying mantis on a list of bugs toxic to cats, but maybe that because they aren't very common. the fact that you got it all out is good. Maybe call a 24-hour vet and ask if they know?

Thanks to all. My vet texted me back (probably regretting ever giving me her number) and also said it could upset his stomach at worst.

I turned my back for literally a few seconds. :banghead: This cat on death’s doorstep becomes reborn if he can kill something. This summer a sphinx moth foolishly came inside one night. He came barreling down the hall to leap up against the wall. Followed my Muz, and me yelling “leave it. Leave it!!!” There i was, perched on a ladder with my vacuum cleaner in my arms trying to reach it on my ceiling while yelling down at two cats “I’ve GOT IT, darn it, don’t worry about it” and they considered if they could leap up on the ladder

Neko LOVED brown moths, yummy, crunch crunch. :blackeye: Went from slow and sedate to lighting fast hunter when one came in the house. What arthritis? I got a butterfly net cheap at a dollar store, for grabbing inappropriate snacks.

Glad to hear Methos still has the hunting spririt. And that his extra protein snack shouldn't hurt him too much.
