I'm double-posting on the Lantus forum and here so i can get a quick answer. basically punkin had 2 teeth removed on 3/29 and has developed an infection at the site. he started on clavamox yesterday morning and vomited and had diarrhea overnight.

other post from today in Lantus forum: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=41748

The vet is saying discontinue the clavamox and he either wants to give him a convenia injection (which i know about the issue on that) or give him baytril. Vet is suggesting Baytril as his first choice.

Is baytril OK for FD?

i need a fairly quick answer so it can be compounded today.

ECID, but Baby was on Baytril her entire OTJ trial & did just fine.. any medication does run the risk of increasing BG #s, but from my experience - it worked well for us.

Willie used Baytril and did very well on it. Do some googling, though. There is a maximum recommended dosage. Amounts above that dose may cause blindness and other problems, so you will want to find that formula (it is based on weight) and double check that the vet's dose isn't above it.

Good luck!
