Hello,

I'd like to leave some dry food out while I'm at work all day. The YA looks good for low carbs and low phosphorus, plus the higher protein would be good to regain muscle mass. My only concern is I read on an old thread that the YA could cause diarrhea. If I fed him only small amounts as a supplement to his wet food, do you think I'd have a problem with diarrhea?

Thanks,

Kathy and Mr. Big Eyes

I've just started mine abt 5 days ago. I added ground kibbles to his wet food. I don't get diarrhoea but he only pooped like 36 hours later. Before that he will do it once or twice a day. I'm still monitoring.

My civvie got diarrhea from it. But if you're only giving the recommended amount or lower you might be ok. DH and I were both feeding him and didn't realize it so he gobbled up as much as he could for a few days! His cleared up the day after I stopped feeding it. He gets a tablespoon to 2 TBS a day now and is fine on it. Might help to go slow while adding it. Give their system time to adjust.

Since it's a nutrient dense food, I had to transition Maury over very slowly. Had a couple soft poo's and once he was fully on it, a couple really stinky one's! Had to open the windows! lol. That has settled too. I only leave him about 3/16 cup every cycle. Only instructions I really followed on the bag was shake it to redistribute stuff (so technical:rolleyes:) that may settle.

Kathy,
I keep less than 1/4 cup of YA Zero Carb dry food out for Elizabeth (she is primarily on a low carb wet food diet), which she grazes on some days, other days does not touch it and occasionally she will eat it all. I do not offer any more on the same day should she eat it all, because it sometimes causes diarrhea. When she first started eating it diarrhea was more common, however nowadays all is well. I hope it works well for Mr. B.E.
