Assuming that immediate pain relief is desired and this is the only option in your medicine cabinet, is a single 81 mg dose of aspirin safe for a 12 pound cat?

I would not give aspirin if I didn't have to. It takes about 72 hours for a cat's liver to break it down. It can be toxic.
But if my vet said to give it, 1/4 tablet of a baby aspirin every third day. Check with your vet to be sure there isn't something serious going on.

I've never heard of a cat getting more than 1/4 of an 81mg pill, so I would have to say no. But your vet is the one to ask.
