Most of you have no idea who I am so I thought the best place to start is with an introduction.
I'm Mel, proud slave to 16 kitties most with special needs including 3 sugarcats..Lord Maxwell (OTJ), Cassanova (OTJ) and Autumn (microdose Levemir).
I've been around here for a little over 4 years but who's counting. Now here is the strange part, not now or ever have I used any flavor of the P insulins, what I know and do well is Levemir and Lantus, but I have worked with and had some great success with the harsher NPH with a few shelter cats so I at least have an understanding of how your insulins all work.
Recently Sue and I were chatting about a difficult kitty I had on the forum that I moderate and she mentioned that she could use a few more voices over here besides herself and I volunteered to swing by every now and then to help out...Paying it forward doesn't necessarily mean having a ton of experience in the area you are paying it forward in because as Sue has said WE ALL HAVE EXPERIENCE in some area of this dance.
I know testing and can test anything that meows.
I know feeding schedules and how to balance life with a sugarcat and keep your sanity been doing it literally for years.
I can walk up a hypo in my sleep and have on numerous occasions
I know deaf cats, blind cats, cardiac cats, diabetic cats and epileptic cats as I deal with them on a daily basis.
Right now as I learn your protocol I can't help much with dosing but I can swing by and cheer lead, help with those beginning steps to the dance on how to make life easier when it comes to testing, feeding, shooting etc. So if you can't get an answer quickly enough here, shoot me a PM and I will swing in and see what I can do to help out even if that is just running down someone with an answer for you.
And please feel free to stop by Relaxed Lantus anytime just to say hi and offer a few :RAHCAT :RAHCAT pom poms to the kitties there and their beans.
