Marci,
I understand your upset over trying to introduce a new kitty. I'm wondering if they need a little less face-time. The recommended way I have read to introduce cats is keep the new one in a separate room with the door closed and allow the resident cat to smell items the new cat has played with or lain on. They may also smell at the door. Cats communicate with one another by smell. Yes, Klinger is going to hiss at whatever you show him, but eventually when they meet nose to nose he may be less aggressive because he will be familiar with the new cat's smell.
This period is one of the reasons why it may be a while before I introduce a new cat. I would love another Nebelung cat like Gandalf - since he passed I have discovered there is an actual breed of long-haired grey cats, who knew?! But Leahpold is alpha cat now and my 19, almost 20 yr old, Tigget is very aggressive toward her because in Tigget's brain she has always been alpha cat! It's funny 'cause Leahpold weighs 14 lbs and Tigget weighs 7, but Tigget can still chase Leahpold around the house and make the fur fly. But because of Leahpold's size, I'm afraid she might hurt a kitten. She is a very aggressive cat, loving and sweet one minute, growling and biting the next. Her sister Sammie who is a couple pounds lighter also gets upset when they play 'cause Leahpold bites so hard.
Gandalf truly was the peace maker. Since he's been gone, Tigget & Leahpold fight a lot. Tigget wants to sleep on the bed and so does Leahpold. Leahpold has been a big comfort to me. She wants to sleep right by my pillow like Gandalf would do. It feels like he told her to do that as she never did it before.
I hope the tips on introducing a new kitty help. And Radar is a very cute name, especially for that reason, "I'm just a boy." I loved M*A*S*H as a kid and was sad to learn that Harry Morgan passed just last week. Alan Alda is still a favorite on those Scientific America PBS shows. Last night on SNL one of the guys imitated him!
