Thanks jeannes for your input on the rice sock. I had a similar situation as your crash in the kitchen. Just as I was ready to poke Stella's ear the gardener turned on a leaf blower. Yikes! It scared both of us!

Update: Stella's numbers have been swinging around. She seems incredibly happy though, so maybe she is just getting used to the insulin in her system. Nothing to worry about, I am keeping a good eye on her and her BG levels.

The link in the BG spreadsheet is broken. Are we still supposed to post those? Thanks!

Stella seems to be doing great!
Stella’s BG Curve 7/20/11 (Nadir 186)

AM Pre-Shot 3U = 365
+ 2 hours 275
+4 hours 215
+6 hours 212
+8 hours 186
+10 hours 224
PM Pre-Shot 3U = 256

B12 shot (Cyanocobalamin) 250mg every Wednesday for six weeks,
B12 (Methylcobalamin) 6mg (I started with 1 tab 3mg and others suggested 6mg, so I gave her that today.)
DM wet and dry food (I am keeping the dry out for Boo in case you want to reprimand me ;-) ).

Stella has improved overall. Less urination, more social with me and the other cat Boo. Plays with feather. Spurts of energy. What do you think of her BG numbers?

This 2nd week's BG curve was so much easier than our first go at it last week. Whew... I am so glad that first week is over! I am sure Stella appreciates the delicate pokes that now get her blood drop too....
 
Looks like you're really getting the hang of testing dancing_cat dancing_cat Stella is responding very nicely to the insulin..nice smooth curve with a good drop. so far so good!!
 
Hello All!

I am posting over in Lantus Land if you don't see me on the Health Board for a while and wonder how Stella is doing. :-D

For now, Stella is greatly improved. Her BG numbers are still very high, but her ability to roam and run around the house is tearing up the living room again! :lol: Her hind legs from the Neuropathy is still bothersome, but it is no longer keeping her in hiding. She also has plenty of energy to get lots of grooming done. Whew!

Although my ability to get a drop of blood from her ear has also improved greatly...with Stella's new energy she is now making it a bit harder... she wants to bolt if I don't do it fast enough. Good for her...I have to get better! Ha! Take care!
