Intro to Fred and dose question

Hello,

I posted my first VERY long into in the main forum yesterday. Thanks for the warm welcome!

After getting some great input, what I was already thinking was confirmed....Fred needs to have consistent dosing AM and PM. The reason my vet had instructed me to dose lower at night was Fred's tendency to drop very quickly and off a cliff in the early morning hours. (photos of Libre graphs in original post) But his numbers remain consistently high even with increased doses, and I'm sure the uneven dosing does not help.

In looking at Fred's spreadsheet, my question is...can I go to 4u tonight, even though he's only been at 3.5 for two PM doses? Otherwise, I'm kind of forever playing catch up. As it is, 4u does not look like its cutting it for him, so I will likely have to raise again. I so fear acromegaly. :-( But I do want 4 and 4 a chance to settle.

Thanks very much!

Just wanted to let you know that you have been seen :bighug: Welcome!

I’m sure someone will be by as soon as they can to properly welcome you :) I’m just at work on lunch at the moment :cat:

Welcome. I just read your intro. Thank you for rescuing Fred and his sister. We will help you get him in the right dose. It was suggested that you give him 4 units day and night to see what that does. Do you think they would get used to eating from an auto feeder? You can set them to go off during the night at specific times. If that works you might not need to leave out dry food. Just another thing to consider.

Hi, Kathleen, Welcome.
You are wonderful to have rescued Fred and Sadie from such a difficult situation. Thank you.
Fred is a most handsome boy! And Butters is also "that cat":joyful:. She has converted many a cat hater into a cat lover.

I don't offer any opinions on dosing. For now, I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to the board. Butters and I have been here for eight months, and I don't know where I'd be without the people on here. They are amazing. I encourage you to post regularly in the forum so that you can get help and support.

There is one kitty on here, Tibby, who very recently seems to be getting better numbers. Have a look at his spreadsheets. His care giver had the dose up at 7u before seeing a normal number. Others have had to go higher. Hang in there. You've come to the right place to get help!
