insuline prozinc

Does anyone know where i can purchase PROZINC insuline in MEMPHIS TN. I didnt realize how low the bottle was until I gave my cat, Gray the last shot this morning. My old vet stopped carrying prozinc and I am concerned that i may not be able to actually take him to see a vet until Tuesday. I dont know what to do. Is there a vet will sale me insuline without actually bringing the cat in. I can get a copy of blood work done in the last six months showing he is diabetic. Thank you for your concern, B

You could contact PetSmart or one of the ER hospitals. Explain your predicament and maybe bring in your old bottle so they can see your cat has been on it. I have heard some Costcos carry it but not all. I would call first. You don't have to be a member.

As an absolute LAST resort, if you are completely out of insulin, you could pick up some Humulin NPH. Understand that it lasts 6-8 hours ONLY, so it isn't optimal long term. You might have to dose every 8 hours until you can get some more of the ProZinc, in order to maintain some control over the glucose levels and avoid ketoacidosis.

I would talk to your vet. Maybe he can call local vets that may carry it. A lot of vets "exchange" items when they are short of them.

Thank you all for your advice. I found a vet that carries prozinc and have an appointment for this afternoon. when its all said and done he will have missed 2 doses, but I am confident i can get him regulated and back on track. thanks again for you concern, b
