I had to run to Walgreens on my lunch hour today to grab some more Sudafed, but saw these on my way out. Not sure if these have been around for awhile or not.. but I know insulins aren't cheap, and if you drop them on a hard floor, the bottle can break! At least with these, it'll keep the bottle safe if dropped. Just had to pass the word on for anyone interested! ;-) Course, if you use the Lantus cartridges, then you just have to be REALLY careful I guess!

Hocks.com sells neoprene insulin bottle covers in two sizes that fit many Human insulin bottles (Humulin N, Lantus, etc). I don't know if any will fit a bottle of pet insulin (PZI, ProZinc, etc).

I know some people make their own covers, like using an empty pill bottle and using cotton balls for cushioning or just wrapping bubble wrap around the bottle. The bubble wrap will work for insulin cartridges and pens.

Here is another alternative to the protective sleeves. When I used the Lantus vials, I kept them in a pill bottle surrounded by cotton. There was a couple times the container did end up on the floor due to one of the cats knocking it off of the counter and the vial was protected.

Oh good ideas! I was trying to think of something to wrap around the vials, but couldn't think of anything off the top of my head. You don't take them out of the wrapping right? Just thinking if anyone has butterfingers, and drops it while they're trying to get the insulin out of the bottle, it needs to stay protected the whole time. Just have to make sure you know which is which if you have more than 1 diabetic! (well, on different insulins at least.. I guess most people with multiple diabetics just have them on the same insulin.)

Didn't even think of the bubble wrap.. you can cut it down to any size you want, then just tape it around the bottle! Great ideas!

When I used insulin bottles, I kept the bottle in the original cardboard box with a neoprene insulin bottle protector.
