I am just curious, does anyone have experience with shooting and not feeding right then? I'm not having problems, yet anyway, but would like to know what would happen, just in case.

Sometimes I would test and shoot but Squishy wouldn't eat right away

But he would eat within the hour. I don't know if I noted those times on his SS or not.

A great deal depends on when Martha's Lantus onset begins. This varies from cat to cat. With any insulin, you need food on board. Some insulin, like Humulin N, has a harsher and more rapid onset than Lantus. In this case, you want to feed before you shoot. With Lantus, onset can begin around 2 hours after a shot. As a result, there's more time for a cat to eat. Given the way you're testing, there's really no way to know when Martha's onset begins which makes it hard to answer your question in anything but a theoretical manner.

Sienne's right, Hosanna. The experts won't jeopardize Martha's health by answering a question without more concrete data to go by. Please post your condo on a daily basis so that the experts can see how Martha's doing, and advise as needed if they see something amiss.

You really need to keep your doses on a consistent amount for Lantus to work properly. There's no way for anyone to see how Martha's doing with the lack of mid cycle tests. For all anyone knows, she could be dipping into lower #s, and it may be something that needs to be attended to urgently, or not. Everyone on here cares about Martha and you, and wants to make sure that she's safe through you. You're the only one who can provide her care with the experts' advice, and knowledge, and they won't give you improper advice, or knowledge until you can get more tests on her spreadsheet. Those are extremely important.
