Innove Senior Canned Food

Does anyone know the carb content for this food? Is it acceptable to feed to a diabetic cat? I can't find this info anywhere. I have a case of cans left from before my cat was diagnosed (and the vet told me to feed Hill's Rx food) and I am just wondering if it's ok to feed him the Innova. Thanks

Ingredients: Turkey, Turkey Broth, Chicken, Chicken Meal, Brown Rice, Salmon, Herring, Whole Eggs, Potatoes, Carrots, Natural Flavors , Guar Gum, Apples, Alfalfa Sprouts, Carrageenan, Sodium Phosphate, Dried Skimmed Milk, Choline Chloride, Inulin, Potassium Chloride, Taurine, Sunflower Oil, Herring Oil, DL Methionine, Vitamins/Minerals

Brown rice and potatoes both are high carbs. This page says 5% (i am reading TNA is the same as dry matter basis) but I think it might be higher with rice and potatoes.

Thank you so much! Much less carbs than the Hill's food my vet told me to feed him. I am thinking of switching back to the Innova

Innova canned formulas contain rice and are not suitable for a diabetic cat. Innova senior is 14% carbs, which you can find on this chart: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8Uu8g1u8Su9YTgxNGE1MDItM2MyMC00Y2Y3LWI4ODMtMzhkYTkxOGM4NThk/edit. Diabetics need less than 10% carbs. However, the company that makes Innova (Natura) also has a brand called EVO (also on the same chart), and their canned foods are all low carb and suitable for a diabetic cat, at 2-6% carbs: http://www.naturapet.com/brands/evo.

yes, 5% carbs dry matter doesn't translate to as fed, should've mentioned that. i don't know what the math is. not surprised to see it is 14%, rice and potatoes are very carb-y.
