Well if you look at Autumn's spreadsheet you will see I test ALOT...lol. But then again Autumn is a very easy girl to test, once I discovered she has a passion for chicken. The biggest tip I can give for teaching them to except testing is finding what is a high ticket reward. Every cat it will be different, some go gaga for brushing, some for chicken, some tuna, sardines etc. You just have to find what Martha will doing ANYTHING to get (within reason of course) and use that as a reward for testing.
Another trick is to wrap them up in a big towel so just their head is showing if you have one that wants to rip you apart, that way they can't wiggle and you can pull off a test, but even if it has to be a forced test always reward afterwards with a treat. All of my diabetics (3 in total) have been adopted as diabetics and I have yet to run across one I couldn't test and that didn't after a few months start coming to me at test time looking for their treat.
