Snowcone/Fluff just had his second anniversary and in celebration of it he decided to start producing blue numbers on a regular basis. Over the last year his numbers have been horrible but I think I figured out a solution. He has been on YA pretty much the whole way and did very well the first year but at the end of the first year he had Pancreatitis which almost killed him. After that his numbers flew all over the place and I couldn't figure out a dosage. I've settled on 3U which is on the edge of too much but 2.75U seems to send his numbers into the 300's. What seems to be working for me is YA mature along with ~20% of a carb food called Origen. Luckily it seems to me his low glucose warning sign is that he will throw up if it gets into the low 100s and I just skip the shot. He will go back up into the 300 range again and over the course of a week or two slide back down to something stable again. In two years I've only given him some sugar one time and that was only precautionary.

Long story short. Thank you for all the advice in getting him going down the road. I popped back in to find a new spreadsheet template since the other was getting long.

I remember you guys! Pancreatitis can really make regulation difficult - so glad you found a system that works and keeps him in good ranges.

Sue,
It was really bad for him when he got it, a 4day vet vacay. He hasn't looked back since though. His family history is pretty bad though. We adopted his mom and brother and they are both gone. He is only 12.

Rachel,
I do miss coming to FDMB on a regular basis, so informative and friendly. Without it I'm sure Snow would have not fared as well.
He has his routine all worked out and knows that:
His name being called
Chin scratch
Scooped up and on the lap/table
Poke in the ear
Beep in the ear
Stop the bleeding
Shot in the neck
Tell him, "Ok lets do it".

Results in food!
Trouble is he is getting fatter on it. I wonder if his weight gain is stabilizing his numbers. Has to be...

Rachel,
His all time high was about 17+ so he slimmed down to a respectable 11 + and now is in the 12-13 range. All over a 8 year period.
I know he hated the YA which dropped his weight a little but switched to the YA mature which he seems to like a bit better.
