Hi all,
Everytime Imogen gets into the blue, she bounces back up in the purple again. Is so frustrating. I am keeping her dose at 2.5 and have kept it that way for almost a week. Is there anyone who can give advice on how to keep her down? Am I dosing too high to begin with? This is sooo hard!!!

welcome back.
I see you have filled out your spreadsheet a bit more, this is good, but about the bouncing, not much to do there, but ride them out.
I know you've heard this in your previous thread...
Some kitties spend a lot of time bouncing, however your mid day numbers look nice, and the blue PMPS is very nice! (that was last nite right?)
Keep at it, and hang in there.
Hope we can see you posting again!

One question for you, what is her feeding schedule like?
 
Thanks. I'm usually on here reading like crazy but not posting much. I feel like I am back in school and learning so much here. Imogen is on a diet as well so as per her vet, she is on 1 1/4 cans a day spread into 2 feedings. 1/2 at AMPS and the other half at PMPS. She needs to get down to 12pnds. She started at 15.3 and is now 14.8 slow slowly coming down. (at least he weight is going in th right direction!).
She has also figured out that the free feeding dry life is over so she has been spreading out her 2 portions. Usually finishing within 3-4 hrs.
I am thrilled to see the blue numbers! I am praying to see more!
 
ha ha, the dry life, gone bye bye, too bad for kitties, but much better for them now to be on a wet food diet.

Has anyone mentioned "no food in the 2 hours before pre-shot time"? As it can influence pre-shot number.
Does she have a some food available to her while you are out or sleeping? Or that is the portions you already mentioned, so she grazes yes?

I guess you've heard the patience speech, but I'll mention it again if you like! :razz:
If you have some days off coming up, might be a good time to do a curve, maybe the weekend?

Try not to get frustrated, I know it's the tough part, but over time, things do get easier.

It's incredible how just a "it's going to get easier" line can make me feel so much better! This is so new and for us peopl who are control freaks it's hard to deal with something that doesn't do what you tell it to! :smile:
We only leave her what is left over from dinner over night and I have been making sure she doesn't eat 3hrs before her shot. If it's actually just 2hrs then I can sneak her a bite here or there to up til then as she starts to go nuts an hour before feeding. We walk around trying to avoid eye contact with her because she gets all doe eyed and really puts her acting skills to use. It kills us!
She in fact is sitting on the computer sending me the "you must feed me now look" while I physically have to type around her!
Hopefully she won't ring in too high.
If she is, should I hold tight to the 2.5 or bump it up a little?
 
Are you near +11 or +11.5 right now?
Maybe try to get a number in around there, it will give an idea of where she might be going before PMPS.

If you do increase tonight, will you be able to monitor a couple of spot checks?
What's your schedule for tomorrow?


You know what I use to do when Luna was wanting food and of course I couldn't feed him during that time,
I would wash dishes and he'd get bored and walk away to go sit down :lol: and yea, trying to type around acat is hard enough, right now he was just laying all over the keyboard! Look at me!
 
11 cycles on this dose, nadirs are blue, it looks like you have plenty of room for an increase to 2.75 units BID.

The bouncing is a normal part of this process. As time goes by, the bounces should start to get lower and not last as long. They happen because these lovely blue numbers are lower than Imogen is used to, so her body responds by thinking "oh no, this is too low!" and releasing extra glucose into her system to "save" her from the scary low numbers (even though they are not scary or low, but her body just isn't used to them anymore).
 
Great advice! Her pmps was 313 so not too terrible (at least lower than this morning) Gave her 2.5 tonight so I won't be shaking Imogen awake every couple of hours out of panic and will start on 2.75 tomorrow to see if this brings more blue numbers. I'll try a curve this weekend. You all are so helpful it is unreal!
