Basic info: Stash tested FeLV+ on 1/22/2010. Also had bladder infection; rodent ulcer; stomatitis; gingivitis. Started on 22.7mg Baytril for 10 days, along with a multivitamin (currently NuCat). WCR; running, jumping, chasing laser lights, mousing... totally new cat for now.

So...

DD has taken care of all of the vet experiences since the initial "sick cat" visit on 1/22/2010. That's twice a week since then. And DD is 8 months pregnant. Since the ImmunoRegulin injections began, she takes Stash into the exam room, then Dr. P takes him from her and goes "to the back" to do the injection.

This morning, however, DH drew the short straw and did the vet run and Dr. P did the injection in the exam room. (After establishing the fact that everything was o.k. with DD/baby first!)

So... is there something hazardous about a pregnant woman being in the same room with ImmunoRegulin? That really threw me for a loop!

Hi Sherri

"Same-room" exposure does not seem to be a danger to pregnant women. This drug seems to do nothing at all, actually, except occasionally cause the recipient to have an allergic reaction. If you want to do more research you can look it up under its generic name, Propionibacterium acnes. My guess is that there was either too much going on in the back at that moment or possibly your DH seemed less emotional or potentially squeamish? Dunno.

Has your vet ever seen Immunoregulan do anything? Apparently the manufacturer started a study 10 years ago but canceled it midway through because the results were dismal (if they completed the study they'd have to acknowledge the results).

PS Glad to hear that Stash is feeling so much better :-D

I'll have to ask that question on Monday. Will be interesting to find out his thoughts.

I'm thinking grandpa-Vet was erring on the side of caution. That, plus he had to deliver the FeLV+ diagnosis to DD in person and saw her attempt to maintain calm.

All is well for now!
