He has something going on with his mouth - has been drooling for about a month and now his front paws, where he would rub his mouth, are yellowish colored (should be white). This morning he was pawing at his mouth. I have tried to look in there when he yawns and tried to open his mouth, which he resists. I don't see any masses when he yaws, but I can't see the outside edges of his teeth that way.
I think his appetite has dropped off. He has been eating treats at testing time, but he was 60 at PS last night after being 260 in the morning. His normal PS has been in the 100s with occasional spikes into the 200s. I have been slowly lowering his dose to try and even out his PS from before when he would swing from low 100s to mid 200s.
Obviously, I have to get him to the vet. I spoke to her yesterday, when I had my aunt's cat in for a depo shot (long story, see below), and she is concerned about oral cancer because he is drooling. Oral cancers have a very poor prognosis. Maybe he just needs a dental. Of course, I have no money for an expensive dental (or worse), so I am not sure what I am going to do.
My aunt's cat is almost 15 and has had IBD symptoms for over a year. I keep taking him in. His blood word is fairly normal for a cat his age with the beginnings of renal insufficiency, but nothing else shows up. He is very skinny, wants food all the time (yes, I have repeatedly taken his BG and it is normal), and has loose stools and isn't using the LB. He seems to have to go suddenly and can't make it to the box. She is talking about having him put down, so depo shots are a last resort. The first one seemed to help a bit, so we will continue. I have had her change his diet and add probiotics and enzymes, but nothing seems to make a big difference. He really needs someone that can trouble shoot his diet. Raw would probably help, but she won't feed it. She won't feed anything I suggest for long and just goes back to FF and Meow Mix. And someone needs to retrain him to the box, but my aunt is not able to do these things. She won't even push him down when he tries to get into her dinner on her tray - no "firmness" in discipline at all. Plus, she was in the hospital all this week with an intestinal obstruction hence me taking over getting her cat to the vet. I may end up with him if I am to prevent him from being PTS over this.
