Hello, I've been on the Main forum but was advised to join the Lantus group. I'm hoping that the people very experienced with Lantus will look at Ravan's spreadsheet & give me some suggestions. This is the 8th week since Ravan's been getting Lantus 2X a day. As you can see his readings are all over the place. To me he seemed to do better when getting 0.5 units but it's been advised to me that maybe he needs a bit more than 1 unit 2 X a day. I'm very frightened about him getting Hyperglycemic. As you can see on the spreadsheet his glucose dropped one time to 68. I was up all night! Ever since then I'm very cautious about more insulin.
I need more suggestions about what to do? This last week was not good he wasn't eating I was giving him Syringes with baby food What ever i could get him to eat. The other day I start giving him Slippery Elm for nausea He gets nauseated right after his shot? The slippery Elm & CBD Oil have helped. He's eating better.

Welcome to the forum, ask all the questions you have. The best place you never wanted to be, but will become grateful for. :cat: head bumps

Welcome. Are you planning to follow SLGS? I would read the stickies in both protocols, the other bring TR. since lantus is based on the nadir, lowest point in the cycle Can you get some mid cycle tests done? I know the feeling of being afraid if a hypo.in a human meter they would likely be under 40. The time to intervene with high carbs is at 50. I copied the info on low numbers and read it many times. This is an active board so you will get lots of help to keep Raven safe.

tiffmaxee, have you looked at Ravan's spreadsheet? I did do testing in between.
HELP ! I just took his blood test & it's 162 down from 488 12 hrs ago. What do I do I'm afraid 1 unit will drop him too low?

The last three days you didn’t. I’m just trying to help. Kidney threshold on a human meter is 50-120.

We usually say you can shoot anything over 150. You can stall and see if the bg comes up without feeding. Test again in 20-30 minutes.
