I'm new please help

My baby Oliver and I found out he has diabetes today. We are trying to make him comfortable. He is dehydrated and weak. I already gave him insulin today and have been giving him water and Gatorade because he has been throwing up the past couple of days hince why we went to the vet today. I need to know can I give him a bath he has pee on him I am assuming from the vet visit but I don't want to street him out more and make him worse... please help.

Welcome to our board. The best way to get fluids into him is to add warm water to his food until it's soupy. What kind of food are you feeding Oliver? It's not necessary to feed prescription food, just low cab wet canned or raw food. Many here give their cats Fancy Food ,Friskies or 9 lives. Just be sure you get the pate and not the gravy. Watch out for grains, potatoes and vegetables. Think of an Atkins diet for cats.

Did your vet talk to you about testing his blood glucose at home? Home testing is the most importent thing you can do to keep him safe. You don't have to get a special glucose meter for pets. You can use one made for humans. Many here buy the Relion from Walmart.

I forgot, if Oliver doesn't like baths, wash him with a warm wash cloth and dry a bit.

What kind of insulin are you giving and what dose. We need to know if you need any help.

I bought the friskys pate but he won't he and won't drink. He just lays there. I am so worried about him. My vet didn't tell me about a meter but I plan to get one soon. He is really worrying me.... we tried giving him electrolytes but he threw them up and about 30 min. After that went to hide. I'm so scared I'm going to lose him.
 
Three units is a very high dose for a newly diagnosed diabetic and Novolin begins to act quickly. Please go post immediately in the main health forum so more people will see your message. Your kitty might be suffering the effects of too much insulin and it can become very dangerous.
 
He sounds like a sick kitty. Low BG wouldn't make him vomit or take away his appetite. He shouldn't be given insulin if he isn't eating. If he were mine, he would go to the vet.
