Hi all,
I know Sadie's journey is a bit different since she has/had steroid induced diabetes. I'm posting this just a positive; I understand not all furry patients are the same.
After a major flare up this past year of her anemia, she was on such a large dose of prednisolone to hault the autoimmune response. Once we made it out of the woods there, we couldn't taper the dosage fast enough for fear of Addison's Crisis... Thus the diabetes onset.
Senvelgo was a blessing for her, helping to provide her almost immediate relief when we started back in November. It gave us time to slowly taper the prednisolone (she is also on cyclosporine, which we're hoping will remain her primary immune suppressor.)
After testing the waters for a week, many conversations with her vet, I think she may be OTJ! Her glucose was consistent in the 70s for about a week, and even though it says you can't go hypo with this, she was certainly acting like it. After vet approval, we decided to try without Senvelgo. She did not want her to remain on this if it was not necessary (her body seemed to be processing her own insulin again.) It's been a week and a half, and she has only gone into the 110s when I give her dose of prednisolone every other day. Otherwise, she's in the 90s .. all by herself!! And she sure is pesky again lol.
I hope this continues. The vet stated worst case scenario she can start it again if needed, since she was only on it for a short bit of time and never had insulin. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!
