Please see my post in PZI (viewtopic.php?f=24&t=120295) - just posting here to get attention, it tends to be kinda quiet in PZI land. :)

Tink is high and flat - not seeing much effect from the insulin and would LOVE some input. THanks!

Just sending you a quick hug because that sounds very frustrating :( My Maui is on PZI as well but I have no idea to tell what the date on it might be... I'll have to remember to ask about that once we get past the current issues.

I hope Think improves soon

If you are not getting the results you expect
If nadirs are high
If more than 2-4 months ole
If floaties are seen in the vial

Try a new vial.

No floaties, but nadirs are high and the bottle was purchased at the end of October... I'll see if the vet will call an rx in. My new vet isn't the vet that prescribed it initially, but he just saw Tink a few days prior to losing remission. If not, I'll take Tink in tomorrow.

I'm finding that I'm not getting consistent results. Last night at +4, he was 208 which was almost a 50% drop from PMPS - which then led me to do a 1am test as well, which was 286. He's like a yoyo! But we're spending way too much time in the 300s, so I think a new bottle is my next step. If that doesn't work - I'll have to get the vet involved.

Just posted in PZI again, but I'm basically seeing the same results with a new vial of insulin. It's driving me crazy. I want to see blue/green and I'm only seeing pink/yellow. :( Feeling like I need to up the dosage (currently playing with .6u, but less if pre-shots are in the 200's) - but still not seeing great nadirs and preshots are all over the place. Once in awhile he'll drop fast (the one blue # @ +3), while most of the time, he's staying pretty flat. I dont MIND the "flat"... if he'd start in the low 200s and dip to the low 100s - but that isn't how he wants to play. I'm afraid to up the dose too much since I can't monitor after AMPS except on the weekends.

Can you get a high school student interested in veterinary studies to come test mid-day as a way to get experience for the student and data for your cat?

Jen,
I used ProZinc with my Pudge, who led me such a crazy multi-colored dance that, no matter how much I wanted to remain hopeful, deep in my heart I had doubts that he ever would go OTJ. He did! I was totally exhausted when off the juice he went at 1 unit. I couldn't believe my luck for several weeks. Hang in there, sweetie.
Best wishes,
Sophie

School's out and my daughter just graduated, so I have no more "contacts" at the schools. We dont have anything even remotely related to veterinary studies here though (small town) - so I'm not sure I'd be able to find that. And opening my home to a high schooler (that isn't mine) is a little too risky just to get a mid-day test in.

SOME days I should be able to have my daughter (18, just graduated, living at home) do it - but she's working f/t the next couple weeks.

Poor Tinker - he's had SO many tests these last couple weeks - it's getting hard to find a spot on his ear that will bleed. I can just tell when I poke that it's scar tissue. It does seem to go away in time (so maybe not TRUE scar tissue), as I remember him getting this way shortly before going OTJ. And with his numbers so wacky right now, I can't really DO the "3 pokes and you're out" thing. I NEED the numbers. I try to use a different spot each time - but with only 2 ears and at least 4 tests/day - the space runs out fast. I've heard of people using the paws... but that just sounds risky to me - opening up little holes in the skin that walks in the cat box and such... I'm sure they heal up fast... but still.

Well, I upped the dose from .6 to .8 last night and got a much better nadir - at least it was blue. Still "safe" enough that I dont see a risk of going hypo (especially since he eats at +5 in the morning), so I'm planning to stick with .8 at least until this weekend. Then I can up to 1u if I feel he needs it, and can be around to monitor him. On the bright side, these higher doses are WAY easier to draw up! :)
