I've been away for a while — unemployed, disconnected...got new jobs, now, blessed be!

Blaze has been "off" all week, although I couldn't put my finger on anything specific, other than that he seems to have been snacking on the whisk broom (I know because he regurgitated the straw). The other night (two nights ago? I haven't been sleeping much; time's running together) he threw up everything in his body, all night long. He hasn't eaten very much since, although he's clearly hungry, and when he goes to the water dish, he makes questioning little chirping sounds, like he's longing to drink but can't. He does drink, but not much. He's peeing fine. Can't tell if he's defacecating—but then, he hasn't taken in much to eliminate. His BGL yesterday was 81 at 6 AM and 322 at 8 PM. This morning was 92. He's already concentration camp-skinny, so this is all scaring me. Has anyone encountered this before? Ideas?

Thanks

Oh poor baby - this is a vet trip please. Sounds like he's got a very upset tummy with other things going on - have you tried giving him Pepcid? 1/2 of 10 MG pill - NOT Pepcid ExtraStrength, regular strength Pepcid. If he were mine, I'd be headed to the vet this morning instead...

BIG HUG,

Money's a big issue right now—but yeah, I'm headed vetward. Keep us in your prayers, please!

Best of luck to you both!! Sending good vibes your way!! They are strong animals. Let us know how you make out.

Much love xo

anyone heard how Blaze is doing???
just wondering...trying to catch up on fb, have not been here for a few or so days!

My beautiful green-eyed boy died early this morning, after a long struggle. He was only 11. Still not clear about what happened, but I know at the end, his BGL kept crashing and wouldn't stabilize. He was in my arms when he crossed.

He never complained about his illness, even when it took me two or three weeks of stabbing his ears multiple times to learn to test his blood glucose. (Good thing he had those big bat ears.) Even then, he only said "ow" quietly once or twice. He used to flinch from kisses until I started kissing his ear after the test. Twice a day I would say, "Time for your shot, buddy," and show him the syringe, and he would come lay between my knees to get it; he never hid or resisted. Sinuous and agile, he loved to climb. He liked greeting visitors from high places (he was very polite) and never failed to meet me when I got home. He loved to play and never clawed me during playtime—although he would try with all his might to bite if he were afraid. He was stubborn but not aggressive. If he wanted something (like the attention I might be giving his brothers or sister), he would literally simply insert himself with sly and steady pressure. He had a jet-engine purr that could shake the house down.

I'm glad his pain is over, but God, what a big hole in my heart!

Oh Jean I am so sorry to hear this. Your memories of your sweet Blaze are lovely and I hope remembering helps. What a gift you gave him to leave in your arms surrounded by your love.

If you replace the 911 with a candle in your original post, others will realize you have lost your lovely boy. (go back up to the first post, choose edit, replace the 911 with a candle and submit)

Blaze sounds like he was the perfect kitty. He knew you loved him so much & in return he loved you just as much back.
I am so sorry you are going through this grief. I hope you find comfort in the memories you & Blaze shared.

May peace be with you.

I'm so sorry you lost Blaze, Jean. He sounds like he was as beautiful inside as outside. It must have been a comfort to him to be in your arms at the end.

Lots of hugs.

Melanie

Blaze, you and your mom worked hard but apparently it was time for you to go to Rainbow Bridge. You will be well and happy there and look down with love on your mom.
Fly free.

Big hugs.

_Rebecca

So sorry to hear this sad news. He was only 11, its not old for a cat. This is what I feared when times were dark with Ak. Deepest sympathy. Bye lovely Blaze. Good cat. [scritch]

I'm so sorry for your loss of your sweet Blaze. But the Rainbow Bridge gained a lovely new angel to watch over the family that he loved so much. May your memories of your lovely green-eyed boy comfort you in this sad time. Just try to remember he isn't gone, you just have to hug him differently now.

Fly Free Blaze and land softly back in your momma's heart.

So sorry ...

One of my favorite lines from a movie about loss: Nicholas Cage speaking about Meg Ryan in City of Angels...

If you had known, would you still have done it?

I would rather have had
one breath of her hair;
one kiss of her mouth;
one touch of her hand [or paw];
than an eternity without it.
One.

May you find peace and comfort in your memories.

God Bless,
Lu-Ann
