This actually surprises me, Calypso & Korbel (GA) hadn't been close in years. They weren't fighting, but not hanging out so much-Korbel never came to accept the dogs were here, she wasn't afraid of them, just hated them. She'd still sleep with me and spent time with me in the mornings getting ready, but overall she had stopped really socializing several years ago as far as hanging out watching TV and stuff. Whereas Calypso adjusted to the dogs very quickly. They weren't littermates, but I got them the same day and they were together 17yrs.
The last day or so, I've been finding Calypso in some of Korbel's old spots.
Does she just need time? Does she need a friend or are the dogs enough? Even before this happened I'd been starting to think about another cat, but a big part of me thought that would be unfair to bring a new cat into the house with the 17yr olds. I'd always wanted another kitten, but I know that wouldn't be good for her, maybe an adult say 7-8ish? Or just leave things as they are? We are still adjusting her chemo dose for her lymphocytic leukemia and I really don't want to do anything that would stress her too much because she is still sick, but on the upswing.
