I guess I am still learning how this guy responds to things :roll: - or maybe it is that he is so near (or at) his right dose that the effects of other things are more obvious.

I had to move him up 2 hrs so I shot two +11.5 hr cycles at full dose and then a +11 at a slightly reduced dose. His numbers started to go wonky right away and are just beginning to settle back down after 3 shots at +12. I probably didn't need to reduce the +11 shot since that PS was already in the 200s, but I had already drawn the dose and was late leaving for the day. The .5u was safe since I was not going to he home for most of the day.

Or maybe I just totally jinxed him be posting about his nice numbers ohmygod_smile

Did you realize your drop from .7U to .5U was a 28% change?? .6U would have been 14% which I would have recommended as I do 15% for Gandalf's splits, who's at a higher dose even.

And I would not have done the 2 +11.5's, just one +10 at .6U. Your changes started with the +11.5's and the 241, not the reduced dose. Instead of 2 changes (1 in time, 1 in dose) you had 4, 1 in dose and 3 in time. Prescription for rocking the boat, yes?

Yes, I'm preaching.... :-D You are probably correct that because he's been doing so well is why making any changes did the rockin'. So the least number of changes the better. I know a 2 hr. earlier shot is nerve racking when you can't be there to test, but maybe next time you have to do that, try it a day or 2 ahead of time when you can get tests in.

Yeah, I went back and forth on making the change slowly or in one fell swoop. Next time I will try it in one step and 2-3 cycles earlier if I can.

He had a decent PS last night (180), but was back in the 200s this morning. I'll try to get some spot checks at +6 - +8 today and see where he is going. I don't think he is rebounding, but I should know how low he is going. It's just that my experience is that he has a flattish curve. Either 200s or 100s, depending on where he was at PS.

It's hot here today! I think it was in the upper 70s when I got up - low 80s now. I had closed the windows last night so it was actually cooler before I opened them this morning. The cats were loving it at first, but now they are spread out on the floors like melted chocolate.

Not fun having that 34 pop out at you. I am no help whatsoever, but I have every confidence that you will figure it out! Did he eat normally today? Just wondering if his appetite is off from this hot weather today. Hope the storms that are supposed to come tonight are not too severe.

He seemed to eat ok - earlier. He threw up just after I posted the last post. Hairball with all the treats (turkey) that I had just fed him.

He was just 38 and licked the gravy off some MC food, so we are still in this. testing again in 30.

OK, up to 48 and actually eating the food.
 
Last test (+8) was 64.

I think he ate his normal breakfast. I did feed half Sophisticat and half Evo 95%, but I don't think there is that much difference in carbs. They were getting all Sophisticat before.

Now I just have to decide if I should reduce or not to .6u.
 
Vicky, I did read your post before I tested and shot him, but I just decided that I could tell he felt lousy today because of the numbers and the heat and didn't want him repeating the cycle overnight, so I dropped him to .6u. He was 230, so starting a bounce already. I just wonder if that is why he was in the 200s at the end of the week (all other changes aside).

He may have something like another hairball too. He is eating little bits of fuzz from the carpet which he seems to do when he is feeling uncomfortable. I have seen him do it when he is hungry and I am not getting food ready fast enough and when he then later brings up a hairball. Another of his odd, OCD-type things. I'm going to plant cat grass this year in a window planter and hope that helps.
 
What about giving him Pepcid AC?

I hear you about basing decisions on numerous factors. You can always go back to .7U if .6U doesn't pan out after a few days. I know you weren't ignoring me :-D

Good idea about planting some cat grass. So many cats eat fuzz from carpet, or eat house plants or whatever if they are indoor cats.

I see the same thing with Tigger though if I am not getting his food ready fast enough. But in his case it is grass outside. And it just isn't normal lawn grass, it has to be a particular kind. And then yes, he sometimes brings up a hairball too. Check out this link. I am not sure if I have shared this link with you guys before. :) The kitties and their love of grass is priceless:

In any case, I hope tomorrow is a better day for Jeddie and he feels better.
 
Pamela, that site is great! Now, I was going to plant a 31" window box with grass, but maybe I should use one of the large cement mixing trays I got last year to set the window boxes in when I brought them inside for a week in August (I was on vacation, they always dry up and die when I am gone - bringing them in didn't really work..., but I have the big trays).
