I really don't think Boots needs insulin

Check out my ss. I know there isn't many entries, but I'm really thinking that insulin is not what Boots needs.
If it were ME going to the dr to find high bg numbers, I think my doctor would tell me that I need to change my diet or she's gotta put me on insulin.
I've shared my ss with my vet and she's still recommending 1 unit bid. Boots has gotten dangerously low on .5 units. I am not going to do it.
I've pulled all dry food from the cat's diet, increased the wet Friskies pate to 1/2 a small (5 oz) can AM & PM. I'll continue to pull bg levels 3 to 4x daily, but not going to give insulin (esp. Novalin N).
Please tell me, am I being rash - or is my caution warranted?
Thank you all - Jean

You are correct. If Boots is testing in normal numbers (40-130 mg/dL on a human meter), insulin is not needed. Unless you get a test reading over 200 mg/dL, I would NOT give any Novalin at all. Too much insulin kills and it can do so quickly. You might want to remind your vet of that!

Get 2 weeks with no insulin and normal glucose, and Boots is officially Off The Juice (insulin) and in a diet controlled state.
