Ok, so you guys helped me and gave me good advice on another question I had. Here's a new one. My cat was put on hills science prescription diet 19 days ago. It's very expensive, he was underweight and only to have 6 oz 12 hrs apart twice a day. I gave it to him for the first three days. He's been on FF for 16 days now. I had Talked to you guys and decided to give him FF classic pate. He loves it. I give him 3oz morning, 2 oz midday and 3 oz night at his scheduled insulin injections time. He's gained weight. I had to take him in 3 days ago for his reoccurring respiratory infection. He got the usual steroids but she wouldn't give him his antibiotics for the first time due to possible resistance. That's beside the point. Sorry. I had her do a glucose and it was 321. She doesn't know I switched and I didn't want to tell her because she insisted he needed the hills science. Won't prescribe Lantus As a cheaper alternative either but I can't afford to go to another vet.
I took his glucose the other day ( I'm having trouble getting it) and it's steady. It was 299 on human meter.
Do I need to tell her he's been on fancy feast for the last 16 our of 19 days and eating 3 meals a day instead of two with a snack of 2 oz pate midday. She really pushed it on me the other day he has to be on the hills with no snacking before testing because it can Affect the his glucose levels and potentially be fatal if he's prescribed the wrong dose. How am I going to tell her I changed his diet 16 days ago and he's snacking.
I'm sorrrry this is so long.
Do I need to call her, cancel the test tomorrow and go back to the prescription diet? He's still drinking a lot and peeing a lot but not as bad.
I hope y'all see this. I only have maybe an hour to call them. I thought it'd be fine till I googled it and it says its very dangerous
Thanks
