I have created a monster!

I was so excited last night because I got my dry food eating monster to actually eat wet food, but he had to eat out of my hands. The problem is that when I went to feed him this morning he wouldn't eat unless I fed him by hand. :?
Why is it that the food is edible if it comes straight from my fingers but he doesn't think to eat it from the bowl? When I let food fall from my fingers into the bowl, he would sometimes pick it back up and eat it but he won't go to the bowl on purpose to pick it up. He just looks at me with those big sweet eyes!

try a flat plate. some kitties don't like their whiskers touching the sides of the bowl when they eat.

and you ARE creating a monster. You might want to invest in some 'sprinkle" toppers to entice him to eat out of the bowl/plate on his own, instead of becoming his personal feeding attendant (I know i know. it's kind of useless to resist, but I feel like we should TRY).

ah -- he is training you. just wait until summer - he will require you to fan him with a large palm leaf while hand-feeding him

Oh no...I will draw the line at waving a palm leaf!

I'm a newbie and I don't know what you've tried already... However, have you tried warming it up in the microwave? Something about the smell of warm catfood... yuuummm. (JK-ick)

That's what I've always done for anorexic cats and it sometimes works.

Now that you know he WILL eat canned, it is okay to let him get hungry enough to eat on his own. But, you can you resist those eyes?
