I finally (after about half a dozen attempts or more), got a BG reading from my little cat! You guys are sure right - the warmer the ear, the easier the bleeding!

I had hoped today would be the day I could do a GC, but I’m glad I got at least one test under my belt!

Her reading, about 12 hours since her last shot, 2 hours since she last ate, was 306. That seems high, right? I will get her spreadsheet going tomorrow, so I can keep track, but am thrilled to have at least 1 number to look at!

Thanks for all the support (any thoughts on her number would be appreciated!)

Congratulations on your first test! It will get easier with a little more practice. The first one is always the hardest! :D

The 306 is still high but for the end of a cycle of a newly diagnosed kitty, it's Ok and not unusual.

I love your avatar pic! Reece is indeed a cutie!

If you need any assistance with the spreadsheet just holler. :)

Welcome to the vampire club. :D

It gets easier with practice. Massaging the ear towards the tip also helps to get the blood flowing. Just remember to reward her with a low carb treat after testing, even it it is not successful. Then she will associate testing with something good.

Congratulations on your first test! That's a typical number for a preshot at this point. My cat is not regulated and commonly gets preshot seven much higher than that.

Welcome to the Vampire Club Suzi!! WOOHOO!!! Getting that first one done is a HUGE moment! Don't let it get you down if you still have problems getting blood every time for the first couple of weeks. It WILL begin happening when needed.
