Gemma's numbers are rising. Not sure what's causing it. I bought new pens from Mark's in Canada recently and started her on the first one on 7/23. I have no reason to believe that the pens are bad. I started a second pen from the batch of 5 just last night in case. She also just finished 7 days of Veraflox for a UTI. I checked her monitor on myself so I know that's not the problem. What am I missing?

Gemma is miserable in the 300's and I am feeling very helpless at the moment!

Could it be that now she's feeling better (e.g. UTI cleared up) she's eating more perhaps, which could account for the higher numbers?
I can't find a reliable doi on this, but a brief search suggests that pradofloxacin (Veraflox) can lower blood glucose?! Not sure how credible this information is though and whether stopping it could have caused her spike?!

"Pradofloxacin is an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections in cats and dogs1. It is not a medication for diabetes, but it can lower blood glucose levels in some cases. This is because pradofloxacin belongs to a class of drugs called fluoroquinolones, which can interfere with the metabolism of glucose and cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) as a side effect2."

Fortunately Gemma did not lose her appetite nor suffer any side effects besides a few loose stools. Thanks for the research you did on the Veraflox. I will look into it some more. If her increasing numbers had anything to do with the antibiotic or UTI I should see decreasing numbers now. She is due for a dose increase tomorrow morning. Should I hold off a while to see what happens?

An UTI does increase the bg numbers so it may take a bit for it to come down. I would go she’s with the dose increase. If she needs more insulin right now, regardless of why, you should give it to her.

I meant maybe the Veraflox lowered her BG a little alongside the insulin, so now that it's stopped her system "only" relies on the insulin without the added effects of Veraflox. But I couldn't find any studies on this, only other fluoroquinolones, on humans, and even of those were only few regarding it lowering BG.

I think, looking at her Barbie numbers, she could definitely do with an increase, yes. Was gonna say maybe wait for someone more experienced to advise you, but I see Ale already replied, so go for it :)
